The Dainty Brew | October Edition

Good riddens to Summer because this is where I shine, lol. I absolutely love Fall n the rich warm colors to signal change is near. There, I said it n Imma say it again...and again...and again as I dust off cardigans There’s just something about watching the leaves slowly trade their summer greens for those beautiful shades of orange, yellow, and red that gets me every single time during nature walks. The mornings get a little crisper as the sun gets slower to rise, the evenings a little cozier to snuggle, and suddenly I’m ready to pull out the apple cider and start planning hay rides and pumpkin patch visits with Toot.

And of course, we cannot discuss October without Halloween. One of my favorite holidays! Give me a little spooky season, some decorations, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show with a hint of Freddy Krueger's and I am perfectly content. There’s just something about October that makes everything feel a little more fun as kids are excited cosplaying for a night.

October also brings homecoming season, and this year I’m excited because I’ll be heading to Norfolk State for Mason’s homecoming where I'm sure I'll get mistaken for a freshman. Watching my son experience another chapter of college life while I get to be there for it? Yeah, I’m looking forward to that one esp since he won court and the Mister of his Dorm Hall. But while I’m enjoying all the fun October has to offer, I also know there are a few things I need to bring back into rotation. My sleep habits need some attention, I need to get back to my daily vitamins, and let’s just say Summer knocked me off my routine a little bit so I gotta tighten up. Yes, October-I’m falling back in. Back to taking better care of myself, back to a little more consistency, and yes...Pilates, here I come again!

Maybe this month is about enjoying the season while also settling back into the routines that help me feel more like myself. Either way, I’m ready for the leaves to fall, the cider and pumpkin spice to pour, and this next little chapter to begin. ☕️🍂
