A 28-Day Practice in Intention, Presence, and Care

Are you still here? We have made it to the 10th day of the month. That means 10 days of consistency thus far in this challenge. I'm proud of myself and I hope you've been enjoying the daily brew of the love. I would hope by now, we get the jist of the series and I no longer need to do the daily blurb to remind you. If you are new here...welcome. I've decided to commit to 28 days of small and intentional acts of love. The rules and ideas are here.

Day 10

Practice listening without planning your response.

For someone with a Bachelor’s in Communications, I can honestly say this practice is still very much ongoing. Who doesn’t love a good debate? Have you ever been so right, receipts or not, that you've considered a career in law? (I'm still watching Suits on Netflix) Over the last few years, I’ve been shifting from listening to be understood to listening to understand. The difference has been transformative. It’s strengthened my relationships and lifted the quiet pressure of needing to be heard so bad. I’ve learned that being quick to respond isn’t as effective when things can get lost in translation. You so busy cutting 'em off to get your point off you don't even hear the full context. You'll find a lot of times being right doesn’t require a rebuttal at all. Have you ever known you were right in an argument but chose to pick your battles and let it slide anyway? Try it and report back.
