An espresso shot from the Editor's desk 🎙️

Welcome back to The Espresso Pour.

Today's note is called Borrowed Vision.

Did you know...

By day-as in my 9 to 5; I'm an Executive Assistant but I didn't start there.

Like many people, I had dreams that were bigger than the version of myself I couldn't see at the time. I knew where I wanted to go and chased the urge for more but I wasn't always sure how to get there.

One of the greatest investments I've ever made wasn't just in higher education.

It was in people.

I was aligned and protected in previous positions by way of mentors and elders who saw something in me that I hadn't fully discovered for myself. As hard headed as younginz can be; I listened more than I spoke. I paid attention to their stories of bridges burned and ledges crossed; their experiences, and the gems they so generously shared as a way of looking out for me. Looking back-wow; becuz they didn't have to take me under their wings.

Those conversations became stepping stones.

I didn't realize I was being stretched. Every time they'd suggest me for work outside my scope or invite me into meetings to shadow.

This introduced me to opportunities I didn't even know existed, and gave me the confidence to walk into rooms that once felt out of reach.

Today's Pour:
Borrow the vision of those who've walked ahead of you until your own vision becomes too impossible to ignore.

Sometimes we think investing in ourselves always comes with a price tag.

But some of the greatest returns come from borrowing the vision of people who've already walked the road you're hoping to travel.

Their belief in me helped shape the belief I now have in myself.

And the beautiful thing is...

I'm still investing.

Because growth doesn't graduate.

It evolves.

And I walk...in the honor of them!

Until tomorrow's espresso...keep finding beauty in every sip.
